HOUSTON, Texas – Authorities are searching for a man who they said cut off his ankle monitor and did not show up for closing arguments, the verdict, and sentencing of his murder trial.

According to reports, Hernandez argued with another man over driving and parking in the parking lot of a store located at 9460 West Sam Houston Parkway South. While the two men were walking towards the store, police said Hernandez pulled out a gun and shot the man several times. Hernandez was later arrested.

The man was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Now, more than two years later while on trial for the murder, court documents detail that Hernandez cut off his ankle monitor and did not show up for the closing arguments of his trial on March 26.

Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison by a jury, according to court documents.
