Student stabbed during fight in restroom at Cypress Springs High School

CYPRESS, Texas – A Cypress Springs High School student was hospitalized after district officials say the student was stabbed during a fight in a restroom Wednesday morning.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and Principal Dr. Cheryl T. Henry confirmed the incident in a message to parents.

The district said the fight and stabbing happened around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday. The campus entered “secure the building” mode where no one could come into or leave the building. A classroom “hold” was also issued while campus and district police investigated the incident.

The suspect fled the campus after the stabbing and was located and taken into custody by Cypress-Fairbanks ISD police. A knife was also confiscated.

“Secure the building” mode was lifted around 1 p.m.

The district commended students and staff for following safety protocols with fidelity during the incident.

“We ask parents to please use this incident as an opportunity to discuss with your students what they can and cannot bring to school and remind them that there are consequences stated in the CFISD Code of Conduct for bringing any form of weapon on campus. Also, continue to encourage your child to always report to an adult any situation that appears to be unsafe. We remain committed to providing a safe environment for every student and staff member at Cypress Springs High School,” Henry said in the statement.
