Authorities say Clifford Heniser, 34, from Lovelady, Texas, entered the sheriff’s office lobby, claiming to be a federal agent and requesting to inspect records around 7 a.m.
The dispatcher told him a deputy would be available shortly. He left but soon returned with an AR-15 rifle. Heniser tried to communicate with dispatchers, who were hiding under desks and calling for backup. He then fired approximately 30 rounds into the air, reloaded, and walked around the parking lot.

Two Crockett PD officers and a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper arrived on the scene. They confronted Heniser, who complied with their commands and laid down the rifle.
He was arrested without further incident. Officers found a Colt pistol, two magazines, and 300 to 500 rounds of ammunition in his truck.
What charges does the suspect face?

Who helped with the response?
The Crockett PD is leading the investigation, with support from the ATF and FBI. Once Heniser is magistrated, he will be transferred to another county for safety reasons.
What’s the outcome?
No one was injured during the incident. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the quick response and support from the Crockett PD, Texas Highway Patrol, ATF, and FBI.
