When officers arrived, they said 32-year-old Chance Chavez answered the door covered in blood. While investigating the scene, officers found a woman unresponsive in one of the bedrooms.

The woman’s cause of death has not been officially released, but court documents said she was struck multiple times with a blunt object. Court records showed an iron as listed as the deadly weapon used during the attack.

Chavez, the woman’s husband, has since been charged with murder. He remains in jail with a bond set at $250,000.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 14.
