Houston – We’re learning more about the office building that caught on fire in Southwest Houston on Wednesday.
KPRC 2 has learned that a Korean bank called Metro City Bank was on the first floor, as well as a law office called Tran Law Group.

Janie Leung said she was working at the building Wednesday afternoon when everyone had to evacuate.
“It was just a small smoke. We didn’t think it was anything big,” said Leung.
She said workers left the building at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
“I love my bank, and I love my people,” said Leung. “The great thing is no one got hurt.”
Leung said Metro City Bank moved into the building located at 6689 Sam Houston Parkway last December.
“We loved the space, and everything was going so well,” said Leung. “It happened so suddenly.”
Leung said Metro City Bank customers can find them at their tempory location at 9888 Bellaire Blvd. Suite 147, located at the H-Mart Plaza.
We also reached out to Tran Law Group. Litigation Paralegal Alexander Van Tho sent us the following statement:
“Despite the fire, our firm remains fully operational, and we are continuing to serve our clients without interruption. Our priority is ensuring that all cases proceed as usual, and our team is working remotely to maintain business as usual.”
Houston Fire estimates the cost of the damages to be hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Brent Taylor, communications director of Houston Fire, said water pressure was an issue while firefighters were putting out the fire.
“We attempted to run multiple hoses off of that hydrant, and we didn’t have the pressure to support that from that line,” said Taylor. “So the incident commander was working to find additional sources of water. He did, which was a couple thousand feet up the road. But that means having to set up a supply line."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
