A Katy man has been arrested after an FBI raid uncovered more than 50 firearms in his possession, a violation of federal law due to his status as a convicted felon.

On March 6, officials with the Houston SWAT Team executed two search warrants on two houses owned by Michael Seery.

At 6 a.m. SWAT officials surrounded his Katy-area home, and ordered Seery, his wife and their three children to exit the house. After the home was evacuated, authorities found 18 firearms on the property.

According to court documents, during the raid, Seery’s wife consented to speak to officials. She told them that her husband ordered someone to bring between 20 and 30 guns to their home while they were out of town between Feb. 14 and Feb. 18. She told Seery that the weapons couldn’t remain at their house, so he rented a storage unit on Feb. 28, and he took them there the following day.

Seery’s wife admitted that she purchased the guns under his direction, and she only considered two of them to belong to her—the rest were purchased for him. Seery also purchased guns himself online and directed his wife to pick them up and complete the required paperwork in her name. She also admitted to owning a 3D printer, which contained the software to produce Glock switches and firearm suppressors.

Seery admitted to authorities that he knew his felon status restricted him from owning guns.

The interview with Seery’s wife led to a search of the storage unit, which was found to contain an additional 34 guns.

In a letter of support written for the judge following the raid and Seery’s arrest, a business associate described Seery as a “good guy” and a “family man” who runs a construction company called Capital Construction Management.

According to court records, Seery was convicted on charges relating to possessing more than 1,000 marijuana plants with the intent to distribute back in 2012. He was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release in that case.
