Houston residents pay respects to Sylvester Turner at City Hall

HOUSTON – Houston residents had the opportunity to pay their respects to former mayor and congressman Sylvester Turner at a public viewing at City Hall today.

The viewing was held at the request of Turner’s family and with the support of Mayor John Whitmire.

Sky 2 was covering the procession as it made its way to Houston City Hall.

Turner died March 5 at the age of 70. He served as Houston’s 62nd mayor from 2016 to 2023.

Turner is also scheduled to lie in honor in the Texas House of Representatives on Thursday, Mar. 13, and Friday, Mar. 14.
