KILLEEN, Texas – A 14-year-old girl died after being stabbed by another student at a Central Texas middle school Monday morning.
Authorities said it happened at Roy J. Smith Middle School in Killeen.

The Killeen Police Department said they were called to the school and found a 14-year-old girl had been stabbed. She was transported to a hospital, but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 12:21 p.m.
Police say the stabbing happened after a dispute between the student and another 14-year-old girl. The girl was stabbed by the other student. The 14-year-old suspect has been taken into custody.
Due to the ages of both the victim and suspect, neither of their names will be released.
“We recognize the emotional impact of this incident on the victim’s family, students, staff, and the entire Killeen community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we extend our support to those in need,” the Killeen Police Department said “We ask for the public’s patience and cooperation as detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division continue their investigation.”
The district initially posted about the incident at 11:40 a.m. on Facebook, saying that a student was injured and taken for medical care. The school was placed on lockdown during the incident.
