According to Constable Mark Herman’s office, the crash happened around 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the 13800 block of the toll road. Deputies say a 26-year-old woman was driving the wrong way when she crashed into another vehicle.

Both drivers were rushed to the hospital, but authorities later confirmed that the victim, a 45-year-old man, did not survive.

Investigators believe the wrong-way driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She is now facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The southbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road were shut down for hours as deputies investigated the scene.
