Houston man accused of groping child named Texas DPS Featured Fugitive

Texas law enforcement has named convicted sex offender Carlos Jose Ayala Morales as this month’s Featured Fugitive on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list. Authorities are offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to his arrest if tips are received this month.

Ayala Morales, 43, of Houston, has been wanted in Harris County since February for attempted indecency with a child by sexual contact.

He has a history of similar offenses, with convictions in 2018 for indecency with multiple children. In 2000, he was convicted of burglary in Dallas and sentenced to six months in jail. In 2018, he was convicted of evading arrest and multiple counts of indecency with children, including three cases involving victims ages 12 to 14 and another involving an 8-year-old. He was sentenced to seven years in prison but was released in 2024.

Authorities describe Ayala Morales as 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 250 pounds, with tattoos on his abdomen, back, right hand, and both arms. DPS warns that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
