Two Pasadena Memorial High School students are in the hospital after being shot during a fight near campus Tuesday afternoon, according to Pasadena ISD officials.
The district said the shooting happened across the street from the school after dismissal around 2:55 p.m. What started as a fight escalated to gunfire, leaving two students injured.
Pasadena police say they were on the scene just three minutes after getting the call. They found two Memorial High School students injured—one had been shot in the chest, and the other in the left arm. One was airlifted to the hospital, while the other was taken by ambulance. Police confirmed that both victims are in stable condition.
Witnesses say the fight between a group of boys in a parking lot after school quickly turned into gunfire when one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting into the crowd. Following the shooting, the suspects took off in different vehicles.
As a precaution, nearby schools that were still in session went into Secure mode to ensure student and staff safety. The lockdown was lifted once law enforcement determined there was no ongoing threat. All schools were safely dismissed and will remain open Monday.
