Spotlight on Harrisburg and Milby High School
In the Fall 2024 edition (Volume 22, Number 1), the magazine shines a spotlight on the deep historical connections between the Harrisburg community and Milby High School.
This special feature was written by Milby alum Dr. Les Fullerton to pay homage to not one but two major milestones: the 200th anniversary of Harrisburg’s founding and the 100th anniversary of Milby High School.
“So great to be able to celebrate the 100th anniversary... which happens to be the 200th anniversary of Harrisburg,” said a 1959 Milby High School Alumnus.

“These alumni have done remarkable things for the [community].” As one alumnus put it, “The message really to our students, you have to look forward to the next hundred years.”

But wait, there’s more! To honor this incredible legacy, Milby High School alumni are throwing a Centennial Anniversary Celebration that promises to honor the school’s enduring legacy.
The event will take place on March 27-28, 2026. Here’s what’s on the agenda:
📅 March 27, 2026: An Evening Dinner Gathering—a chance for past and present Buffaloes to break bread and share stories about Milby’s impact on the community. Bring your best tales, and maybe some Buffalo spirit wear!
🎉 March 28, 2026: A Centennial Parade that’ll bring out all the Buffaloes! Starting at JR Harris Elementary and making its way to Milby High School, this event will celebrate a century of pride and tradition. Expect plenty of smiles, nostalgia, and maybe a few happy tears!

The Milby High School Alumni Association is calling all graduates and Houston community members to join in this monumental occasion.
“We are committed to doing history, working with the communities of which we are a part,” emphasized a speaker at the Houston History Launch held for media only on February 26th.
Reconnect with old friends, relive those unforgettable school days, and let’s pave the way for future generations of Buffaloes!
