HOUSTON – KPRC 2 Investigates ended up in the Fort Bend County Jail on Wednesday to get a firsthand look at what happens when someone gets processed. We wanted to get a close-up of what a person goes through once they are arrested or turn themselves in to law enforcement.
This comes after Fort Bend County Judge KP George on Tuesday sent two statements through his county office on Tuesday, claiming that he was treated inappropriately by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and placed in an unnecessary ice hold after he turned himself in on a misdemeanor for misrepresentation of identity last September.

“Thank you for coming to find out the true facts on what happened on that day,” Sheriff Eric Fagan said to KPRC 2 Investigates.
George claimed to be the victim of “inappropriate treatment” at the county jail during his processing. According to an email, he said there was“an unnecessary hold by ICE.”
“His statement was false,” Sheriff Fagan said.
Fagan took KPRC 2′s Mario Diaz inside the jail to show exactly what George went through after turning himself in last fall.
There were several steps in the process tour that lasted for roughly 30 minutes. KPRC 2 Investigates even taken to the location where George’s booking photo was taken.
It is in that same room where an ICE check is typically held, according to Fagan. This is when a call is made to verify a person’s immigration status if they are not a naturally born U.S. citizen. Fagan said it is done with everyone not born in the United States. On the night George was booked, Fagan said the process lasted 10 minutes.

In his letter to Fort Bend County residents, George said he was held for nearly three hours.
Sheriff Fagan made it clear that was not the case.
“He was here for an hour and 13 minutes.”
When asked, “How much faith do you have in the county judge?” Fagan replied, “Right now, I’m just shocked and surprised that he would make a statement that I feel like, he knew wasn’t true.”
KPRC 2 Investigates did receive a call from George for a sit-down interview a few weeks back, but he has yet to confirm a date and time.
