HOUSTON, Texas – A 23-year-old driver has been arrested and charged after deputies said he crashed into their patrol vehicle in east Harris County while driving drunk Tuesday morning.
Deputies with the Harris Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a wrong-way driver in the 18900 block of East Freeway.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the two responding deputies jumped into action, positioning their vehicle so the wrong way driver, who has since been identified as 23-year-old Nathan Arevalo hit their vehicle instead of others.

Gonzalez said Arevalo hit the deputy’s vehicle, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Arevalo, who showed signs of impairment, was arrested and charged with DWI.
Gonzalez said the two deputies did experience minor pain but did not have to go to the hospital.
