A Fort Bend County judge has denied the request for a bond reduction for the Lamar CISD employee who was charged with murder in connection to the death of his wife in their Richmond home two weeks ago.
David Wayne Pollard was taken into custody on the afternoon of Feb. 9, after authorities found the body of 52-year-old Iona Pollard during a welfare check in the 8900 block of Rocky Knoll Lane.

After his arrest, Pollard was given a $300,000 bond.
Pollard’s attorneys filed paperwork requesting that a judge lower the bond to $75,000. In the filing, the attorneys argue that Pollard cannot afford his current bond because he is paying for one of his daughter’s college tuition. This request was rejected.
In addition to seeking a lower bond, Pollard asked the judge to return a Ford F150 pickup truck and a Mazda 6 sedan and to allow him to see his daughters. These motions were also denied.
Iona was an instructional coach at George Junior High School. David also held a position in Lamar CISD, working as the district’s school safety coordinator since 2020. He began that role after serving as director of police and security operations at the Texas Medical Center.
