‘Completely crazy’: HPD arrests man on bike accused of assaulting women in Montrose

HOUSTON – Houston police arrested a man Sunday morning who is accused of threatening to assault and assaulting several women in the Montrose area over the past few weeks.

Katherine, who only wanted to give her first name, said she encountered the man on a bike Wednesday night near Alabama Street and Montrose Boulevard.

“He was like, ‘I need a dollar. Give me a dollar,’” said Katherine.

When Katherine told the man she didn’t have cash, that’s when she said he got off his bike and became violent.

“He took another step, and he tried to punch me in the face,” said Katherine. “And I don’t remember if I had ducked or if I had stepped back. I remember the look in his eye like he looked completely crazy.”

After the incident, Katherine said she immediately called 911 and filed a police report.

HPD confirmed to KPRC 2 that at least two women filed police reports relating to this suspect.

The department is asking anyone who believes they were also a victim to file a report.

“I’ve never had anybody invade my space like that,” said Katherine.

Katherine said although she is relieved the suspect has been arrested, she is still afraid to walk in her own neighborhood.

“I still feel nervous about being out and about in the neighborhood,” said Katherine.

Another woman told KPRC 2 the man hit her head with a dodgeball. Several other women wrote about similar experiences on Nextdoor, warning about the man.

The suspect apparently targeted women who were alone or women walking their dog. Anyone with more information can call HPD at 713-884-3131.
