Defense attorneys sought conditional release for the teen, requesting she be sent to West Oak for treatment.
The girl’s mother, appearing via Zoom, told the court her daughter has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety and has a history of self-harm dating back to 2022.
The mother also stated that the co-defendant in the case had visited their home several times, though she maintained that the door remained open, and she frequently checked in.
Judge Samantha Davis presided over the hearing where the teen, wearing her hair in a ponytail and not in handcuffs, listened as her attorney Jerry Michael Acosta spoke. Afterward, Acosta declined to comment.
The second suspect, a 15-year-old Willis High School student, remains in the custody of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges. She has not yet been charged in connection with the Memorial High School threat.
Authorities previously announced the arrest of two teenage girls in connection with a plot to attack Memorial High School using firearms and pipe bombs. The alleged plan was uncovered through online threats, prompting swift action from law enforcement, including the FBI, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Spring Branch ISD Police.
