GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – Court documents reveal disturbing allegations against a Houston Police captain who was arrested and charged with sex crimes against a child.
Daryn Edwards, 59, remains in the Galveston County Jail on charges of possession of child pornography, aggravated sexual assault, and sexual performance of a child. He has been denied bond.

Edwards, who is the captain of HPD’s Auto Theft Division, is a 32-year veteran with HPD. The department relieved him of duty pending the outcome of an investigation when his arrest was announced.
Court documents show the young female victim made an outcry, telling an adult that Edwards had been sexually assaulting her since she was in elementary school. The victim said the sexual assaults escalated over the past year, alleging that in the last year, Edwards had sex with her between 85-100 times.
The victim also said Edwards would send sexually explicit pictures to her over social media and request nude photos from her as well. She said Edwards sometimes bribed her with money to send the photos which she did to keep Edwards from getting upset.
The documents say the victim knew Edwards was saving the photos she sent because she would get a notification of photo saved from the Snapchat app, which is one of the apps Edwards used. She said Edwards told her he had a hidden photo album with the pictures in them and threatened to “ruin her life with them.”
Edwards also allegedly used hidden cameras to capture images of the victim in compromising positions.
Edwards is expected to appear before a district court judge sometime next week.
