The Board of Regents meeting, chaired by Tilman J. Fertitta, will be held at 2 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel, located at 4450 University Drive.
The agenda includes a presentation on “uncertainty” by Faculty Senate President Dr. Holley Love, approval of faculty hires, academic programs, and financial decisions concerning the university system. The meeting will also cover discussions on endowment management, faculty development, and updates on infrastructure projects.
Student organizers have confirmed that they will participate in the Open Forum section of the meeting, using the platform to advocate for improved campus safety and related concerns. In a show of solidarity, students are also striking from classes to attend the meeting, hoping to emphasize the urgency of their demands.
This protest follows a series of student-led demonstrations at the University, where students have pushed for increased transparency and action on key institutional decisions.
The University of Houston has responded to the planned protest, stating, “Yes, we are aware of the protest, and we fully support our students’ constitutional right to free speech and expression.”
