HOUSTON – A suspect was killed during a home invasion at an apartment complex in the Alief-area and authorities believe the man was shot by another person also involved in the home invasion.
Houston Police said it happened in the 9700 block of Leawood Blvd. not far from Bissonnet Street around 1:30 p.m.
Police say three masked men burst into the apartment and intended to rob the resident inside. The resident was able to call a relative who showed up with a gun.

According to HPD, a shootout took place between the relative and the suspects. During the shootout, police say one of the suspects ended up shooting another man involved in the home invasion. The wounded man was taken to the hospital where he died.
There is some discrepancy between what police have told us and what we were told by individuals at the scene. KPRC 2 is working to confirm and will update the story if the details change.
Police say no one else was shot during the incident, but the apartment resident was beaten up during the home invasion.
The resident had just recently moved into the apartment unit, which police say was a known area of drug activity before the resident moved in.
Right now, there is no word on the status of the other suspects and if they have been apprehended or not.
