It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said his deputies were called to a home on Bradfield Manor Drive near Lake Houston. That’s where Sheriff Gonzalez said a family was having a birthday party when James Thompson, 63, a neighbor, caused “a disturbance.”

During the party, Gonzalez said Thompson got into an argument with several partygoers before brandishing a gun and shooting at everyone standing in the driveway.

Only the homeowner was reportedly hit by the gunfire and Gonzalez noted several people at the party shot back at Thompson.

Both Thompson and the homeowner were rushed to a hospital, but last said to be OK. Thompson has since been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of Tampering with Evidence.
