A granddaughter and her boyfriend have been arrested in Laredo, Texas, on capital murder charges in connection with the death of a Bacliff woman found dead in her home.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Tara King and Uriah Urick, who have been charged with capital murder in connection to the Feb. 5, 2025, death of Tammy King.

Authorities believe the couple stole money from a lockbox or safe at the home, which escalated the crime to capital murder. Tammy King was found dead inside her home on 15th Street in Bacliff after a close friend reported being unable to reach her. Deputies discovered she had a gunshot wound to her head and had been dead for several days.
KPRC 2′s Bryce Newberry spoke with Galveston County Sheriff Henry Fullen, who confirmed that the teens reportedly used an online service to arrange a ride, similar to a rideshare, to reach Laredo. Extradition deputies from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office are currently in Laredo, awaiting the suspects’ processing.
The suspects were located and arrested on February 9 in Laredo, Texas, with the assistance of the USMS Gulf Coast Violent Offender’s Task Force - Laredo Division and Galveston Division.
BACKGROUND: Two teenagers identified as persons of interest in Bacliff woman’s death
GCSO initially identified 18-year-old Urick and his 17-year-old girlfriend, King, as persons of interest in the case.
GCSO Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene to conduct an investigation. Authorities had previously asked for the public’s help in locating the teenagers for questioning.
