The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said Moreno pleaded guilty to murder charges in connection to the death of Flor Aidee Vega. Her body was found wrapped in plastic and sheets inside of a box in the 7000 block of Bissonnet Street on April 17, 2022. The box was in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The district attorney’s office said Moreno made the plea without an agreed punishment recommendation. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 18.

According to court documents, Moreno struck Vega with a blunt object which led to her death.

When Vega’s body was found inside the box, a medical examiner found lacerations and wounds to her face, consistent with being cut with a machete or an ax. Facial bones were also broken.

When a search warrant was conducted, investigators said a mattress covered in biological material was found wrapped in plastic wrap and sheets consistent with what was around the body.

Detectives said surveillance video shows a person carrying a U-Haul box on a dolly. That person was later identified as Moreno.

Moreno told investigators that someone broke into his apartment and dropped off the large U-Haul box.

Moreno is from Mexico and had been living in Houston for 25 years.
