HOUSTON – Police were investigating a crash that killed two people and knocked out power to people in an area of West Houston.
Investigators said the driver of a SUV was speeding on Highway 6 near West Oaks Plaza Drive at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said the driver lost control, hit a pole and flipped several times before hitting some trees.
The woman was thrown from the SUV, and crews extracted the man from the SUV.
Both died at the scene.
Investigators said when the SUV hit the utility pole, some people in the area lost power and CenterPoint was working to restore it.
