Deputies investigate deadly shooting in Atascocita home

Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting in Atascocita, where a man was shot multiple times during what authorities are calling a “family disturbance.”

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently waiting for a warrant to enter the home. Earlier this morning, a gun linked to the shooting was discovered in a dumpster a few hundred feet away from the residence.

Investigators say the man was shot multiple times during a family argument inside the home, and he later died at the scene. Several individuals who were present in the house at the time of the incident have been detained and are being interviewed by deputies.

“Ultimately, there was an adult male shot multiple times he was confirmed on scene we have a few people who were inside the home detained at this time we are drafting a search warrant to be able to get inside the home to process it,” Sgt. Michael Ritchie of the HCSO Homicide Division said.

Efforts to speak with the family for more insight were met with high emotions. Family members, visibly upset, yelled and threatened as they asked reporters to leave the area.

Deputies are still working to determine the cause of the argument and what led to the shooting.
