CHANNELVIEW, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect in a murder in Central Texas is in custody after fleeing from deputies in the Channelview area.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said deputies met with out-of-county officers in the 1000 block of Deerpass Drive. The officers were attempting to locate the suspect.
The first time units came to the home, no one answered. They returned about 30 minutes later and saw the suspect in a neighbors yard. Authorities say when the suspect saw the deputies, he started running.

As deputies chased the suspect, Captain James Lovett with HCSO said one of the deputies thought he saw the suspect holding a gun as he turned around. The deputy fired his weapon but the suspect was not hit.
The suspect kept running and was able to hide in the backyard of a home. A K9 was able to find the suspect. He was checked out by EMS and no gunshot wounds were found on him.

Lovett said the suspect was wanted in connection to a murder that happened Friday in San Marcos.
