Arrest made in knifepoint sexual assault of student in University of Houston parking garage

Authorities have someone in custody who fits the description of the suspect in a recent sexual assault at the University of Houston.

UH officials say the arrest happened Friday night near where the incident took place. Since the investigation is ongoing, officials aren’t sharing more details or the suspect’s identity right now.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE: UH student sexually assaulted at knifepoint by suspect in parking garage

The assault occurred on Friday evening around 5:50 p.m. on the second floor of the Welcome Center Student Parking Garage. According to a university alert, the suspect threatened a student with a knife to stop her from calling the police and then assaulted her.

This is the second incident in the same parking garage this week. Earlier, on Wednesday, a student was robbed while waiting for the elevator. A man approached, hit the student in the face, and took his scooter before running away.
