Management and police went into the vacant unit and found two teens with one holding a weapon. Police say the teens tried to escape, running to the back of the apartment complex and jumping out of a window. Once on the ground, the teens fired at officers, who returned fire. Several shots were exchanged, but the exact number is still unclear.

The 15-year-old girl cut her leg on the window, while the 17-year-old boy was shot and is now undergoing surgery at Memorial Hermann. Both were arrested and taken to the hospital.

The police department praised the officers for their quick and brave response during the dangerous situation. Fortunately, the officers, with years of experience between them, were unharmed.

The teens are facing charges, and authorities are investigating whether they are connected to other crimes like home invasions. At least two violent offenders have been removed from the streets as a result of the incident.
