Councilwoman Abbie Kamin tells KPRC 2 Restaurant Depot is now providing $100,000 worth of security apparatuses to prevent ongoing parking lot takeovers.
Several KPRC 2 viewers reached out to our Help Desk asking for change after they experienced sleepless nights from the large gatherings that would include up to 200 cars, fireworks, gunshots and loud engines.
Relators also expressed concerned with the car meet ups impacting the housing market.

Kamin said the agreement was made during a meeting with her, the Houston Police Department and Restaurant Depot on Thursday. As part of their agreement, Restaurant Depot will now be closing off entrances during non-business hours, adding concrete barriers and speed bumps to the parking lot.
Restaurant Depot is also expected to add security during the evening business hours.
Kamin said HPD will be stationing additional patrol vehicles to monitor the parking lot as well.
“A huge thank you to our residents for working with my office to really get this word out. Also, to the media. Thank you all for putting the message out and bringing attention to this issue,” said Kamin.
Neighbors, like Paul Ngo, said they already noticed improvements Thursday night.
“The parking lot was a lot quieter. I didn’t hear any fireworks go off. I think they saw these barricades and they got discouraged." said Ngo.
