The “We Remember Memorial Bench” will serve as a tribute to Barraza’s life and legacy, as well as a call for justice in the ongoing investigation into her murder.

The dedication ceremony will take place at Burroughs Park, located at 9738 Hufsmith Rd. in Tomball. Law enforcement officials, loved ones, and community members are expected to gather to reflect on Barraza’s life and to continue raising awareness about her unsolved case.

2019 Murder

Barraza was just 29 years old when she was shot at point-blank range outside her northwest Harris County home on Jan. 25, 2019. She had been setting up for a garage sale early in the morning to earn extra money for her fifth wedding anniversary trip with her husband, Sergio Barraza.

Surveillance footage from the incident shows an individual exiting a black Nissan Frontier pickup truck, approaching Barraza in her driveway, exchanging words with her, and then shooting her four times before fleeing the scene. Barraza later died at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

In the video, the driver is seen approaching Liz’s garage sale wearing a wig, long jacket, and tall boots.

“We need answers,” Barraza’s husband, Sergio, said in a past press conference. “Liz was a beautiful person with the kindest soul. I need justice for Liz. We all do.”

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or charging of the person responsible for Barraza’s murder.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477), submit a tip online at crime-stoppers.org, or use the Crime Stoppers mobile app. Tips can remain anonymous.
