Authorities ramp up search efforts to locate sex offender who escaped custody at Waller County hospital

BELLVILLE. Texas – Officials across multiple departments are working together as the search continues for a man who escaped custody while undergoing testing at a hospital in Bellville.

Salvador Saucedo was able to escape custody around 7 p.m. Thursday night while at Mid Coast Medical Center.

In a press release Monday, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office announced that it was teaming up with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force to attempt to locate Saucedo.

Saucedo was in custody on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and assault on a peace officer, according to the WCSO. He has also been charged with escape.

Officials say he was not wearing handcuffs at the time he escaped, and it is unclear if he is now armed.

He was last seen wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans.

Saucedo is also a registered sex offender. The Waller County Sheriff’s Office said Saucedo is wanted for indecency with a child out of Gonzales County in March of 2024 and stalking in Brazos County in May of 2024. He was also charged with online solicitation of a minor in Brazos County in Dec. of 2023.

KPRC 2’s Corley Peel obtained a probable cause statement from the College Station Police Department, giving more details from Saucedo’s online solicitation charge from 2023. The documents revealed that a 16-year-old girl received a highly explicit text message while she was at school from an unknown number. The number was traced back to Saucedo.

Saucedo claimed that he was not the owner of the phone at the time the message was sent, but forensic evidence indicated that he was not being truthful.

Anyone with any information is urged to call the Waller County Sheriff’s Office at 979-826-8282 or submit a tip anonymously by calling the Waller County Crime Stoppers at 979-826-8266.
