HOUSTON – Tuesday’s snow day in Houston was certainly a time to remember, but admittedly, put a lot of residents and their schedules on hold.

In light of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and two inclement weather days, the City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department announced when it will be picking up everyone’s trash this week.
Now as the snow melts and the city returns to familiar winter temperatures, so may all of us return to their regularly scheduled program. Before that, however, the SWMD needs to make up for the days it missed and will suspend certain services like curbside recycling, tree waste, and yard waste collection this week.

Here is what SWMD’s schedule for trash pickup will look like for the rest of the week starting Thursday.

Monday’s scheduled garbage routes and heavy trash is expected to be serviced. All Solid Waste facilities and offices are expected to reopen.
Friday, January 24, 2025
Tuesday’s scheduled garbage routes and heavy trash is expected to be serviced.
Saturday, January 25, 2025
Thursday’s scheduled garbage routes and heavy trash is expected to be serviced.
Sunday, January 26, 2025
Friday’s scheduled garbage routes and heavy trash is expected to be serviced.
