HOUSTON – Three of the police officers who were among the first to respond to the terror attack on New Year’s Day in New Orleans were honored before the Houston Texans Wild Card game on Saturday.

In the early hours of January 1, a terrorist later identified as Shamsud-Din Jabber, 42 from Houston, drove around police barricades blocking Bourbon Street in a rented Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck.
Jabbar drove down the crowded street, hitting and killing people ringing in the new year. He then got into a gunfight with police, where he was shot and killed.
In all, he killed 14 people and injured 35 more.

Of the hundreds of local, state, and federal law enforcement officers that responded, three of those first on the scene were recognized for their heroic work ahead of the Houston Texans game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The team shared their appreciation with a heartfelt message, “Thank you for your service ❤️,” alongside the officers’ names.
Each were given custom Houston Texans jerseys with their names on them.
