Houston – According to investigators a man was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on Barker Cypress Road when he lost control of his car and hit a tree around 11 p.m. Saturday night.

Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies said that the impact caused the engine of the car to detach and sent it flying into the air, hitting another vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction.
No one in the second vehicle was injured according to investigators.
Investigators spoke with the driver at the hospital and found no indications of impairment.
