Klein Oak substitute teacher fired, charged after viewing ‘inappropriate’ material in class

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Klein ISD says a substitute teacher at Klein Oak High School has been fired and charged after viewing inappropriate material on a personal device during class.

The district said students reported the male teacher to administration and the substitute was immediately removed from the classroom by administration and Klein ISD Police.

“The former substitute has been terminated and will never work in Klein ISD again. Klein ISD police still have the former substitute in custody, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted charges. Klein ISD will also report the former substitute to all appropriate agencies,” the district said.

The district also said an administrator has already contacted the parents of all students present in the classroom when the incident occurred.

“We want to thank the students who reported this incident, as well as the campus administrators and law enforcement for their swift response,” the district said.

Today, a substitute at Klein Oak High School was viewing inappropriate material on a personal device during class. Students reported this to campus administration, and the substitute was immediately removed from the classroom by our administrators and Klein ISD Police.

The former substitute has been terminated and will never work in Klein ISD again. Klein ISD police still have the former substitute in custody, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted charges. Klein ISD will also report the former substitute to all appropriate agencies.

An administrator has already directly contacted the parents of all students present in the classroom when this incident occurred. In the spirit of transparency, we are sharing this information with our entire school community.
