HOUSTON – The Texas Medical Board has temporarily suspended the medical license of a Houston doctor after determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a “continuing threat to public welfare.”
According to the Texas Medical Board, Dr. Nathan Starke, a urologist, participated in several surgeries in August and September of 2024 while appearing impaired.

He was suspended by Houston Methodist on Sept. 6. On or about Oct. 15, the Board said Starke tested positive for cocaine.
“Dr. Starke signed an Interim Monitoring Agreement with TMB but did not begin testing,” the Board said.
A temporary suspension hearing with notice will be held as soon as practicable with 10 days’ notice to Dr. Starke, unless the hearing is specifically waived by Dr. Starke.
The temporary suspension will remain in place until the Board takes action.
Six months ago, before his license was suspended, Starke appeared on the KPRC 2+ livestream to talk about men’s health.
Houston Methodist told KPRC 2 that Starke is no longer employed with them and that they are unable to share any more information.
