HOUSTON – An argument between two cousins turned deadly on Thursday afternoon, marking the first homicide of the year in Houston.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. at a residence in the 8400 block of Sterlingshire Street off Tidwell in northeast Houston. Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Quinton Waldo Lee, who is now charged with murder.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers arrived at the scene to find a 28-year-old man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

His identity is pending confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Detectives J. Brown and M. Cass reported that the victim and Lee, who were roommates and cousins, got into an argument that escalated into violence.
Police say Lee retrieved a gun and shot the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
According to court records, Lee shot the victim 25 times, with 11 of the gunshots striking the victim in the head.
Lee was located and arrested by officers a few blocks away. Authorities noted that he claimed self-defense at the time of his detention.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD, two cousins got into an argument when one of them shot the other one. The man who was shot died at the scene.
Crowson says the suspect has been detained and is claiming self-defense. He says this is the first homicide in the City of Houston this year.
