Man killed, woman injured in Gulf Freeway hit-and-run crash

Witnesses described a black truck speeding over 100 mph, weaving through traffic before the deadly crash

A speeding truck caused a deadly crash on the Gulf Freeway near Bellfort Thursday night, killing one driver, injuring another, and fleeing the scene.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. when witnesses reported seeing a black truck speeding northbound at over 100 mph, weaving between lanes.

Police say the truck struck a Mustang before hitting a Jeep, causing the Jeep to flip onto its roof.

The man driving the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman passenger was rushed to the hospital. Her condition remains unknown.

The people in the Mustang were not hurt.

The driver of the black truck fled the scene, continuing northbound on the Gulf Freeway.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash or the driver of the black truck to contact Houston police at 713-247-4072.
