GALVESTON – Mysterious graffiti tags with concerning and cryptic messages have begun appearing across Galveston, raising questions, fear, and speculation among residents.
Phrases like “My wife and kids are held here”, “I’m being sold here”, and “I am held against my will” have been spotted at various locations across the town.
The graffiti has caught the attention of the Galveston Police Department.
Officials have launched an investigation to determine whether these messages are credible cries for help or simply an ill-conceived prank.
Social media discussions surrounding the graffiti have exploded, with Galveston residents offering mixed reactions.
Some residents are deeply concerned, questioning the community’s priorities.
One user posted, “Why is everyone more worried about vandalism that can be cleaned up instead of what this could possibly mean? What if something serious is happening?”
Others remain skeptical, dismissing the graffiti as a prank or an attempt at dark humor. “I’m thinking a few drunks thought it would be funny at the time,” another resident speculated.
The messages, primarily found along 19th, 20th, and 21st Street, appear unrelated, with no clear pattern linking the sites beyond their eerie content.
“There’s nothing substantive that we know of to give any credence to these claims,” said Galveston Police Captain Xavier Hancock.
Hancock added “I think that the person who is doing this may be looking for attention, maybe getting some sort of visceral satisfaction from the fact that people are giving them that attention.”
