A man is in police custody after allegedly assaulting a Federal Aviation Administration employee at Hooks Airport.
The assault was reported at 3:39 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The FAA employee was part of a crew that was performing lighting maintenance at the airport at the time of the attack.

During a possible moment of panic, the man struck the FAA employee across the face with a pistol. Then, he fired at least one shot from the gun. Thankfully, nobody was hit by the gunfire.
A nearby camera captured the suspect’s license plate, and he was taken into police custody at his home a short time later.
Investigators believe that the attack was not specifically targeted at the employee, and the man may have been having a mental health episode.
The injured employee was taken to a nearby hospital with a minor injury that required stitches.
