MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The search continues for a fisherman missing on Lake Conroe after he failed to return home on Saturday.

Authorities say the man had put his boat in at the Cagle Boat Ramp located at the north side of the lake on Saturday. Around 5 p.m., the man called his wife and told her the fishing had not been good, but that he planned to try for a little longer.

At about 9:30 p.m., the man’s wife called 911 after not receiving any word from him. Multiple agencies launched a search of the north side of the lake. The man was last known to be between FM 1097 and FM 1375. The area can be dangerous for people who don’t know it well due to hidden stumps underwater.

Crews were able to locate the man’s boat near FM 1375, but he was not inside. The boat also had some damage to it and the man’s phone and life vest were inside.

Authorities say the boat was still in gear, leading them to believe the man had been ejected from the boat. They are unsure if the damage to the boat was from a previous incident or not.

Crews searched the lake until 3 a.m. Sunday and returned at 8 a.m. They have been searching throughout the day and will continue through dark.
