Prairie View A&M football will part ways with Head Coach Leonard McDowell after three seasons with the program.
McDowell first joined the program in 2022. In his three seasons, he led the Panthers to a 17-17 overall record and a 14-9 record in SWAC play.

“Coach McDowell’s commitment to helping our student-athletes succeed in life both personally and professionally is admirable and a true reflection of his character,” PVAMU Athletic Director Anton Goff said in a press release announcing that McDowell’s contract would not be renewed.
Assistant Head Coach Ashton Green assumed coaching duties during the Panthers’ final regular season game on Nov. 23, which they lost to Alabama State by a score of 9-6. They finished the 2024 campaign with a 5-7 record.
Goff also announced that the search for the next head coach at PVAMU is underway.
