HOUSTON – Harris County District Courts hosted a heartwarming event called “Adoption Day” which highlights a life-changing moment when children find their forever families.

State Rep. Gene Wu is sponsoring the event, and in a news release notes how it looks to shine a light on the power of adoption.
Though Adoption Day is actually on November 23, every year, Harris County’s event kicked off Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Harris County Juvenile Justice Center on Congress St.
The celebration will also highlight the finalized last steps for dozens of children who have found their home.
“Currently, there are nearly 5,000 children in Texas waiting for a forever home,” Wu said in a news release. “Many of these children have been waiting for years. Each and every one of them deserve a loving and wonderful home. We need more good people to consider adoption. I hope that people will come see how much these kids add to the families that adopt them.”

We’re told this is one of two events, the second will be held on Friday by Family Courts with Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Harris County District Courts Civil Courthouse on Caroline St.
