ARLINGTON, Texas – Netflix says last Friday’s boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson made history.

The company says over 108 million people from across the globe streamed the event live, becoming the most streamed global sporting event ever.

Alongside the Paul and Tyson match, the match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano became the most-watched professional women’s sports event in US history.
The match between Paul and Tyson happened at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, where an estimated 72,000 fans flocked to watch the match between the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer and the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion.
Many celebrities including basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal and former NFL star Rob Gronkowski, along with Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones were in attendance.
It was Tyson’s first sanctioned pro bout in almost 20 years.
Paul won the fight in a unanimous decision.
Many viewers reported problems watching the stream with comments on social media complaining of buffering problems on Netflix.
According to reports, Paul’s payday from the event was $40 million, compared with $20 million for Tyson. Paul mentioned his number during a promotional event over the summer. Tyson has a history of legal and financial troubles but had said he didn’t take the fight for money.
