HOUSTON – A 23-year-old father, who was driving to take family photos with his 5-month-old daughter, was shot to death while the baby was inside the vehicle in the Alief area of southwest Houston, according to family at the scene.
Police responded at the scene in at 10005 Beechnut Street near Beltway 8. The parking lot of a Wells Fargo bank was taped off with crime scene tape.
Houston police said the baby was uninjured. Officers were seen holding the man’s baby at the scene.
The family told KPRC 2′s Bryce Newberry that two others were inside the car during the shooting, a woman and a male roommate. They said the roommate had to be taken to the hospital.
The victim’s vehicle was also parked in front of a Wells Fargo bank with damage to its front-end and riddled with bullet holes through the driver’s side front windshield.
Right now, investigators are trying to determine a motive, but at this point say it is too early to tell.
“We don’t know if it was targeted, we don’t know if it’s road rage,” Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD said.
