Text to 911 helps Brazoria County deputies rescue woman from alleged abduction

A woman in Brazoria County sent a text to 911 late Saturday night as she was being held against her will by an intoxicated driver, deputies say.

The woman texted dispatchers around 10:30 p.m. to report that she was in a car with 36-year-old George Peters from Houston, who had threatened to kill her.

Unable to make a phone call due to the dangerous situation, authorities say she used the Text to 911 service to alert authorities.

The Brazoria County Telecommunications Team quickly passed the information along to law enforcement, who pulled the vehicle over on State Highway 288 and safely rescued the victim.

Peters was arrested on multiple charges including unlawful restraint, exposing someone to serious bodily injury, unlawfully carrying a weapon, making terroristic threats against a family or household member, and driving while intoxicated. An emergency order of protection has also been issued.
