HOUSTON – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas announced it has made the decision to remove MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston from its Medicare Advantage PPO, Blue Cross Medicare Advantage HMO, and Medicaid networks effective Nov. 1, 2024.
The insurance company described the move as “difficult but necessary” to aim toward its mission of delivering high-quality, cost-effective health care solutions for its members.

To assist members affected by the network adjustment, BCBSTX plans to collaborate closely with those in need of care, redirecting them to nearby in-network providers.

Special provisions will be made for members who are pregnant, have a disability, or are being treated for an acute or life-threatening condition; these individuals may qualify for continuity-of-care coverage and continue receiving treatment at MD Anderson at in-network rates.
