Officials were able to identify Romero based on his identifiable tattoos and a passport that was found in his possession.

Romero had been on the run since the morning of Oct. 14, when his girlfriend, 23-year-old Anyi Montealegre Izquierdo, was found dead in a home they shared. An autopsy showed that she had been stabbed multiple times.

On the night of Oct. 14, FBCSO followed tips to a possible location for Romero in the Needville area. SWAT officers searched the 2200 block of Richmond Street, but Romero was not found that night.

At this time, Romero’s body is being transported to the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office for postmortem examination.
