Woman dies after being ejected from motorcycle during crash in west Houston

HOUSTON – A young woman has died after hitting a car while riding on a motorcycle in west Houston.

The accident happened at around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday morning near 700 Chimney Rock Rd. The victim’s identity hasn’t been released at this time, but officials with HPD said the victim was a 19-year-old woman.

Witnesses near the scene said the woman was riding on a purple Yamaha YZF motorcycle and quickly weaving through traffic. The woman ran a red light at the intersection of Chimney Rock Road and Woodway Drive and struck a brown Mercedes-Benz crossover SUV that was making a left turn on a green light.

The woman was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics with Houston Fire Department.

HPD officials said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
