First responders are at the scene of an explosion at a propane distribution center in Brookshire.
The explosion and fire were first reported around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the RapidXchange propane center at 30313 FM 529 in Brookshire, according to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office.

One man was injured and drove himself to the hospital. He’s in stable condition.
At 3 p.m., the fire was contained at the back of a building, according to Waller County’s Fire Marshal. At 4 p.m., the building fire and surrounding grass fire were both completely under control.
Officials said the grass fire was one of their biggest concerns because of droughts in the area.
In a press conference after the fire was contained, Waller County Fire Marshal’s Office Asst. Chief Dean Hensley said an investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
“[We] don’t exactly know what happened, nothing suspicious that we see right now,” Asst. Chief Hensley said. “We’re pretty confident we got an accidental fire. We just want to figure out what happened during that exchange.”

Waller County currently has a burn ban in effect and is part of Governor Greg Abbott’s disaster declaration issued Monday and related to “increasing wildfire danger and ongoing wildfire activity throughout the state.”
According to the WCFMO, no deaths have been reported. They also said that there are no air quality issues at this time.
